Halloween is only a few days away, and that means it’s time to honor the legacy of the greatest horror movie ever made.

The 2009 remake of “Friday the 13th” is a classic piece of cinematic history. It’s not the best Halloween/horror movie because it’s got the best plot, writing, acting, the way it was shot or the soundtrack. It’s pretty much awful in all of those categories.

It’s the best because of how awesomely ridiculous it is. The film successfully and unironically fulfills every horror movie stereotype. The ditzy hot women, the meathead jock, the good hearted hero and the woman who falls for him.

Did I mention it’s produced by Michael Bay? It is, and that means legendary villain Jason has some epic kills.

This film is also a little nostalgic for me because it was the funniest viewing experience of my lifetime. A guy a couple rows behind me and my friends decided the late night showing was the perfect time to smoke weed, comment on the whole film and never shut up. It was worth the price of admission ten times over.

There are certainly scarier movies out there. Lots of them, but are there more entertaining horror movies? I’m not so sure.

It’s pretty hard to beat hot women, action, cheesy stereotypes and Jason killing people. That has Halloween gold written all over it.
