Several iPhone owners are starting to notice that Apple has been cataloging their photos into sections, one of which includes bras, brassieres and similar content.
Through an automatic filing feature in the Photos app, iPhones employing the operating system iOS 10 will sort almost all of a user’s pictures into groups, including fairly broad ones like “New memories” or more specific ones like “Breakdancing.” “Bra” and “Brassiere” are included in the 4,432 keywords of different scenes and objects, but boxers, briefs or other similar underwear garments usually donned by men are not.

It’s at the very least questionable how actually “scary” such a technological capability is, like many users have asserted. The powerful search function, enabled through artificial intelligence, that is able to detect the the photos and subsequently categorize them is local to the device. In other words, the photos are not uploaded to a cloud and are stored solely on the users’ personal device, according to the company.
Still, while people may find it convenient to find all of their photos or images that include a “dog,” they may not want a one-stop resource to see all the risqué content on their phone, whether it’s a lingerie garment or the exposure of cleavage. If the mobile devices get in the wrong hands, so too may the imagery.
