A Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and former New York Times reporter revealed that she has been making monthly donations to Planned Parenthood for decades.
“It was important to me to write a check every month and sign my name,” journalist Linda Greenhouse wrote in her new book, “Just a Journalist: On the Press, Life, and the Spaces Between.”
“It was the signature of a citizen. The stories that appeared under my byline, on abortion and all other subjects, were the work of a journalist,” Greenhouse wrote. She explained that she considered her support for the abortion giant a “civic duty,” according to the Washington Times.
“Saudi women are gaining the right to drive. American women are losing the right to employer-provided birth control,” Greenhouse wrote in her Oct 11. article “On Contraception, It’s Church Over State,” showing no qualms about her political convictions. “The first development signifies a theocratic kingdom’s bow to the inexorable onslaught of modernity. The second is a cynical bow to the forces of reaction against modernity,” she added.
She also wrote that Republican congressional leaders reflexively try to defund Planned Parenthood “whenever they have nothing else to do,” in her Aug. 17 article “What We’re In Danger of Losing,” asking readers to “demand that our leaders turn their attention to real problems, not made-up ones driven by political ideology, religious doctrine and greed.”
“There’s a clear pro-abortion bias throughout her writing,” said Susan B. Anthony List communications director Mallory Quigley, the Washington Post reported. “It’s difficult to be objective when you not only lean a certain direction, but when you are a contributing member to the pro-abortion movement.”
Planned Parenthood did not reply to The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment on Greenhouse’s donations.
