Former White House press secretary Jay Carney sent out an incorrect tweet on Tuesday mixing up his presidential history.
Carney, who served under President Barack Obama, claimed that Obama was the first president since Dwight Eisenhower to be elected and reelected with more than 50 percent of the vote.
“On this great day, @BarackObama became the first president since Dwight Eisenhower to be elected twice with more than 50% of the vote,” he tweeted.

Carney must have forgotten about Republican president Ronald Reagan, who was elected with 50.7 percent of the vote in 1980, and then reelected with 58.8 percent of the vote in 1984. (RELATED: Jay Carney: I Never Told A Lie)
Yes! And as some have rightly pointed out, Reagan also cleared 50% twice (50.7% in ’80). @BarackObama hit 52.9% in ’08, 51.1% in ’12. https://t.co/7hNkBZoTM6
