Tennessee state representatives Eddie Smith and Jason Zachary have both voiced their displeasure with the possibility of the Volunteers hiring Greg Schiano.
Schiano, who currently serves as the defensive coordinator of Ohio State, was allegedly aware of Jerry Sandusky’s actions during the the Penn State molestation scandal. Neither state rep cited the Penn State history in their tweets, but both make it clear his arrival in Knoxville will be completely unacceptable.
Smith tweeted, “Our Tennessee standards mean something, and a Greg Schiano hire would be anathema to all that our University and our community stand for. I sincerely hope that these rumors are not true, because even serious consideration would be unacceptable.”

Zachary echoed Smith’s sentiments when he tweeted, “I have reached out to @John_Currie and others in administration at UT expressing that WE as a TN Community do not approve of Schiano. #higherstandards.”
