John Mayer was rushed to the hospital early Tuesday morning for emergency surgery, according to his band Dead & Company.
The band announced the news to their fans over Twitter, mentioning that the lead singer and guitarists health will likely result in some scheduling changes.
Early this morning, Tuesday, December 5th, John Mayer was admitted into the hospital for emergency appendectomy forcing the Dead & Company December 5th concert in New Orleans to be postponed.

“Early this morning, Tuesday, December 5th, John Mayer was admitted into the hospital for emergency appendectomy forcing the Dead & Company December 5th concert in New Orleans to be postponed,” the band wrote.
The 40-year-old musician who found fame as a solo artist has been performing with Dead & Company since the band formed in 2015. The group is made up of original Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Mickey Hart as well as Bill Kreutzmann, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti.
Their next scheduled gigs are in Orlando, Florida on Thursday and in Sunrise, Florida on Friday.

The band didn’t provide any further details on Mayer’s condition or how the procedure went. Hopefully the Dead & Co. frontman can get back to performing soon.
