A New Jersey Imam exhorted his congregation to fight the Jews and “kill them down to the very last one” to take back Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Imam, Aymen Elkasaby, urged his followers to seek martyrdom in a bloody crusade against the Jews during prayers at the Islamic Center of Jersey City Dec. 8, according to the Clarion Project. Elkasaby’s jihadist sermon, a video of which was posted by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), rails against Israel and the Jews for their control of Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is located on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
“So long as the Al-Aqsa Mosque remains prisoner in the hands of the Jews, this nation will be humiliated. As long as the Al-Aqsa Mosque remains under the feet of the apes and pigs, this nation will be humiliated,” Elkasaby declared during the sermon.
“Allah, make us among your armies … Allah, we ask you to grant us martyrdom on the threshold of Al-Aqsa Mosque … Count them one by one, and kill them down to the very last one. Do not leave a single one on the face of the earth,” Elkasaby said.
Elkasaby is a relatively new addition to the New Jersey mosque, as his first recorded sermon at the center was in August, according to the Middle East Forum. His comments follow calls from two other Imams, Sheikh Mahmoud Harmoush and Ammar Shahin, to American mosques for bloodshed against the Jewish people.
Shahin gave exhortations similar to those of Elkasaby during Friday prayers at the Islamic Center of Davis in California July 21.
“Judgement day will not come until the Muslims fight the Jews,” Shahin said.
“Oh Allah, show us the black day that You inflict upon them, and the wonders of Your ability. Oh Allah, count them one by one and annihilate them down to the very last one. Do not spare any of them,” he added in prayer.
Harmoush extolled the virtues of jihad to the Islamic Congregation of Riverside, Calif. in a sermon he also delivered July 21.
“Allah wants us to have jihad in our lives no matter what and where we are and what is happening,” Harmoush said, according to MEMRI. “When you happen to be in Jerusalem, for example, around the holy mosque and people are shooting you, putting you in the hospital, or killing you, you have to resist and fight back as much as you can.”
The Islamic Center of Jersey City has previously been known for promoting moderate Islam and interfaith dialogue. The center hosted the second annual Interfaith Gathering of Unity in November, in which Elkasaby participated. Sen. Cory Booker also invited the mosque’s president, Ahmed Shedeed, in 2016 to attend then-President Barack Obama’s last State of the Union address.
