GOP Rep. Louie Gohmert said Monday that if Hillary Clinton had been elected, religious freedom would have disappeared and he would have been imprisoned for being a Christian.
“If Hillary were elected, then she replaces Scalia with someone that has contempt for the God we know, who rules the universe,” Gohmert told Breitbart News radio. “And our freedom of religion would have been gone. They consider Christians a hate group even though it’s the one true religion based on ‘God so loved the world he gave his son. His son so loved the world he gave his life.'”

Gohmert added that with Clinton’s choice in the Supreme Court, the courts “were going to be coming after Christians” and that he would most likely be jailed within four years.
“So on election night I said [to my wife], ‘But if on the off-chance Hillary wins, sweetheart, you need to be ready. They’ll probably have me in jail within four years,’ and I wasn’t kidding. I really believed that if she had won, my freedom was at stake because of my Christian beliefs,” Gohmert told Breitbart.
Gohmert made similar comments during a March interview on The Blaze, saying that Clinton and others wanted to label Christianity a hate group while outlawing speech critical of Islam.
“The U.S Commission on Civil Rights says that Christians are the biggest hate group threat in America, in essence. And you had Hillary, who wants to make it a crime to say anything negative about radical Islam, and Loretta Lynch [who] were in favor of [making it] a crime to question man-made global warming,” Gohmert said, according to SFGate.
