There were many hot takes after the Obama-era net neutrality regulations were repealed by the FCC Thursday afternoon.
The new rules takes the regulation of internet service providers out of the hands of FCC, and government regulators will also no longer regulate the service of internet delivery as if it were a utility. The move is a very controversial one. Many folks online had meltdowns over the decision.
However, CNN put out perhaps the most triggered take. In a banner headline on the front page of their website, CNN ran with the post-apocalyptic headline: “End of the internet as we know it.”
There were many sighs on Twitter in response to the CNN hot take:
The funny thing is, pretty much every day, and certainly every year, it’s the end of the internet as we know it. It has changed constantly since it first appeared. Innovation does that. https://t.co/DwJwmXsl68
