Connie Britton hit back at critics who called her out for the irony and price tag of the $380 “Poverty is sexist” shirt she wore to the Golden Globes.
“For those concerned with the price of my Globes sweater I just don’t think a $5000 gown would have added to the conversation in the same way,” the 50-year-old actress tweeted Tuesday. Her look was part of the black-out attire by actresses at Sunday night’s annual award show in protest of sexual harassment and gender inequality in Hollywood. “And @linguafrancanycwho designed it, inspired by @ONECampaign, is donating $100 of each purchase to @camfed,” she added, mentioning that part of the cost for the shirt will be donated to a non-profit organization that reportedly works to help educate young girls in Africa.

The comment came after the star was called out on social media for missing the glaring fact that people in poverty could never afford to buy a $380 sweatshirt and noting that that amount of money could do a lot for a whole family that is poor.
“fan-effing-tastic,” Fox News host Greg Gutfeld tweeted in response to a tweet describing the sweater’s price tag.
