Trump Suggests FBI Used Dossier To Get FISA Warrant On His Campaign

President Donald Trump advanced a theory Thursday that a surveillance warrant was obtained against him using information gleaned from the salacious dossier compiled by opposition research firm Fusion GPS.

The dossier, compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele, alleges collusion between the Russian government and Trump’s 2016 campaign and includes uncorroborated details about the president’s private life.

Trump’s critics have held up the dossier as proof of impropriety during the election while others point to a serious lack of evidence supporting the most salacious claims as grounds for dismissing the dossier entirely.

The dossier was reviewed by the FBI before during the 2016 campaign and may have been used to obtain a surveillance warrant on members of the Trump campaign.
