Mike Mularkey is no longer the head coach of the Tennessee Titans, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.
Yates tweeted Monday morning, “Filed to ESPN: the Titans and head coach Mike Mularkey have mutually agreed to part ways, according to a league source.”

Just a week after the team said Mularkey would be the coach going forward, this happens. A massive surprise from Tennessee after Mularkey steadied that franchise. Respected man. https://t.co/s1ehzg4OMW

This is a bit of a mind-boggling move. The Titans just won a playoff game, things were looking up with Marcus Mariota at quarterback and the team appeared to be heading in the right direction.
Sure, they got blown out by the Patriots, but that is to be expected when playing in the cold weather of New England. This move makes absolutely no sense to me, even if it was “mutual.”
Hopefully the Titans know what they’re doing, or else letting Mularkey walk is going to look really stupid.
