Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren celebrated the 45th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade by writing an article saying that abortions are no longer happening in back alleys, and are even safer than simple dental procedures.

“When I was a girl growing up in Oklahoma, women got abortions. But because those procedures were illegal, many of them ended up with back alley butchers. And we all heard the stories: women who bled to death or died from an infection,” Warren wrote Sunday in a Time article titled, “America Can Never Go Back to the Era of Back-Alley Abortions.”

Monday marks the 45th anniversary of Roe V. Wade, prompting Warren to write that America’s health care system has made abortions an extremely safe procedure for women.

“I lived in a world of back alley butchers and wrecked lives. We’re not going back — not now, not ever,” Warren wrote. The senator added that “abortion is now safer than getting your tonsils out,” positing that many women are alive because of Roe vs. Wade.

However, a slew of Whole Woman’s Health (WWH) abortion clinics miserably failed inspection reports between 2011 and 2017, violating the law and jeopardizing the health and lives of women by failing to keep clinics clean and train staff adequately, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

“Anyone who cares for women’s health and safety should want abortion facilities to be frequently inspected, no matter what their position is on abortion. Because this is a health and safety issue, and just because it has to do with a hot button topic, does not mean that the abortion industry should get a free pass,” Arina Grossu, Center for Human Dignity Director at the Family Research Council, told the Free Beacon. “Restaurants and tanning salons and vet clinics, they’re all more closely regulated than the abortion industry.”

Warren also touted abortion access for its alleviation of car seat and baby stroller costs. She noted that government officials should trust women to make the call about what to do with their unborn babies, despite the fact that hundreds of thousands of pro-life women don’t believe that abortion should be legal, or at the very least unrestricted.
