White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders cited a Sunday report from The Daily Caller that admonished the media’s obsession with the ongoing investigation into possible Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

The Sunday report noted CNN reporter Maeve Reston’s comment that she is “so interested to see how the Russia investigation affects things, because so far, out in these districts when you talk to people about Russia, and that’s all we talk about at CNN basically, they say they don’t care.”

“It doesn’t have any effect on their lives.”

Sanders noted the report in reference to a question as to why President Donald Trump does not fire special counsel Robert Mueller. The press secretary said the White House wanted to see a “swift conclusion” to the investigation and criticized the media “obsession” over the minute developments of the Mueller investigation.

Several questions at Tuesday’s White House briefing focused on the Mueller investigation after it had been revealed earlier in the day that Mueller interviewed both Attorney General Jeff Sessions and former FBI director James Comey recently.
