An Axios manager sent out a Thursday ad on Twitter calling for women, people of color, LGBTQ individuals, and disabled persons to apply for an open designer position before pulling the ad, realizing that it wasn’t a good look.

“We’re hiring for a designer to work on our branding design @axios! Location: DC or NYC. If you are a designer who is woman, POC, LGBTQ, or disabled, we would love to have you apply,” the Thursday tweet read.

Axios Chief Design Officer Alexis Lloyd’s tweet comes after Axios has faced considerable fire on Twitter for not having a diverse staff, after an employee tweeted a staff photo.

Lloyd has since taken down her tweet after realizing the message breached a number of ethical and legal boundaries. The Equal Employment Opportunity Act prohibits companies from openly displaying preferences for some groups over others and from discriminating against certain groups because of their attributes.

“The intent was good. We pulled it down and had her retweet the link,” Molly Mitchell, an Axios spokesperson, said, according to the Washington Post. “We need to do better on racial diversity and it’s something we’re working very hard on in every aspect of our recruitment and hiring efforts.”
