According to the early ratings reports for the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, the biggest night in music may have reached an all-time low in terms of viewership Sunday night.
The Grammys were held in New York City for the first time in 15 years and aired earlier than usual thanks to the East Coast locale. The three-and-a-half-hour long show featured a handful of incredible performances from some of the industry’s biggest stars, but the political undertones of the evening spoiled the show for many. The preliminary Nielsen numbers are already showing a steep drop from the 2017 show, Variety reports. Last night’s show averaged a 12.7 household rating and 21 share in the 56 overnight metered markets, according to Nielsen’s overnight numbers. Last year’s show recorded a 16 household rating for comparison.

Despite the underwhelming numbers, which many predict will end up being an all-time low for The Grammys, the show is still expected to rank as one of the most-watched events on TV this year.
