Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James is open to sitting down for a discussion with the Golden State Warriors if he opts for free agency this summer.

ESPN reported the following:

If the Golden State Warriors can create a max salary slot this offseason, the defending NBA champions could position themselves to secure a meeting with LeBron James, league sources told ESPN.

There is no indication that Golden State is evaluating such options to acquire the Cleveland Cavaliers star at this time.

Out of respect for the Warriors’ winning culture, James would listen if Golden State explored ways to clear the necessary cap space, sources said.

The NBA can’t possibly allow this to happen. James, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant on the same squad would be the most unfair thing to ever happen in the NBA. They would obliterate teams in a way that we’ve never seen.

All three of those guys will be first ballot hall of fame players. You could make a very convincing argument that those are the three best players in the league right now. If the NBA executives want a league with plenty of competition, I don’t think putting the three best players on the same team is a smart idea.

The regular season is already boring enough as it is. Most people don’t really get amped until the playoffs show up, and I would argue interest has really only centered on the finals these past few years.

NBA commissioner should stop this any way he can manage, otherwise you’re about to see regular season interest plummet. Nobody wants to watch the Warriors win game after game by 50 points. Might be fun for awhile, but is going to get really old by about game six or seven of the season.
