Tony Dungy did not hold back his thoughts about New England Patriots coach Josh McDaniels backing out of the Indianapolis Colts head coaching job.

“Haven’t read the article but I can tell you there is NO excuse big enough to justify this. It’s one thing to go back on your word to an organization,” the 62-year-old former Colts head coach tweeted Wednesday.

“But having assistant coaches leave jobs to go with you then leave them out to dry is indefensible. For COMFORT??,” he added, before he said it was about “common decency and integrity.”

“You make those decisions before you say I Do. Don’t get married start a family then say I changed my mind,” he continued. “He didn’t sign the contract but he said I Do. Has nothing to do with sports. That is common decency and integrity. You don’t do that to the families of your peers.”

News broke late Tuesday that the Patriots offensive coordinator would not be taking the head coaching job after he had already told assistant coaches they would have a spot with his staff.
