We’re a little more than two months away from the second season of “Westworld,” and now people are asking what Dolores’ endgame is.

WARNING: THERE MAY BE MINOR SPOILERS BELOW. STOP READING IF YOU HAVEN’T FINISHED SEASON ONE.

BeyondWestworld.com wrote the following:

Although her methods might be violent, it seems that Dolores just wants to be free. She wants to break away from the humans, and, for once, be in charge of her own destiny. The idea is pretty simple, but the hosts have been enslaved by Delos for years. As of the end of Season 1, Dolores and her merry band of hosts are finally breaking free.

Since we’ve seen how humans treat the hosts, it’s hard not to root for Dolores’ revolution. However, their path to freedom might not be an easy road. There are bound to be those that fear the hosts rise to sentience.

Is this the most obvious observation ever made in the history of television? Of course her endgame is to complete the maze and get out of the park. That’s overwhelmingly obvious. Do we not remember how season one ended? It’s going to be an absolute blood bath.

The question we should be asking is what will happen between Dolores and the Man in Black. Asking whether or not Dolores wants to get free is way too simple. It’s obvious that she does, and will kill in order to complete that objective.

But what about William’s transformation into the Man in Black? I think that’s going to tell us a lot more about Dolores’ true intentions. What interaction have they had that we don’t know about yet? You have to remember that there’s about thirty years between when we’re introduced to William as the innocent visitor to the park and then when it’s revealed he’s the Man in Black. We have to find out what happened in those 30 years.

I’m way more interested in the Man in Black’s transformation over three decades with Dolores than simply what she’s up to and her endgame. I think we all know the endgame. The audience now needs to know the journey that got us here and where we’re going in season two.

You can catch “Westworld” when it returns April 22.
