Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro went after The New York Times on Twitter Wednesday over an article on guns.
A New York Times article published an article Wednesday titled, “With AR-15s, Mass Shooters Attack With the Rifle Firepower Typically Used by Infantry Troops.”
Shapiro responded:
I’m going to need the NYT to explain what a semi-automatic rifle looks like that DOESN’T have “firepower typically used by US infantry troops.” https://t.co/3Q0BN45NK6

I earlier posted a chart of muzzle velocity for particular caliber rounds (so deleted it, for sake of clarity). But the point is that virtually all rifles have high muzzle velocity. That’s what they’re for.

And as I also posted earlier, this headline is like saying, “The engine in your car is just like the engine in the cars used by the military.” Well, yes.

Here’s a site that shows muzzle velocity for various weapons at various calibers. https://t.co/dWKJi40hM1

Whoa.
Shapiro’s Twitter presence is often fiery. He recently called out The Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur for saying that Republicans “hate cops.” (RELATED: Ben Shapiro Skewers Cenk Uygur After He Says That Republicans ‘Hate Cops’)
