A Democratic Texas state senator refuses to resign from his position even though he’s been convicted of multiple fraud charges and allegedly sexually assaulted several women.

State Sen. Carlos Uresti was convicted Feb. 22 on 11 federal counts of money laundering and wire and securities fraud. The charges come after prosecutors say he lied to investors in order to make money for a fracking sand company, according to Fox News. The company he tricked investors into investing went bankrupt in 2015. Uresti also has another court date for a  different bribery case in May and faces more charges.

Uresti additionally faces multiple accusations of sexual assault. One female reporter claims the Democratic senator groped her and “put his tongue down my throat.” Jenn Cervella a data director for the Texas Democratic party said he sexually harassed her when they first met. “We were being introduced and when we shook hands, he spun me around and said something like, ‘Damn, girl, you’re trouble,'” Cervella told The Daily Beast.

Although Uresti faces prison time in June, has been accused by multiple woman of sexual assault or harassment, and faces more criminal charges in another court case, he refuses to resign. Uresti, who is up for re-election in 2020, plans to appeal his conviction.
