Verne Troyer Of ‘Mini-Me’ Fame Hospitalized, Reportedly Suicidal And Battling Alcoholism

Actor Verne Troyer, best known for his role as Mini-Me in “Austin Powers,” has been hospitalized with suspected alcohol poisoning, according to TMZ.

Troyer was reported to be “suicidal” by a friend who made an emergency call Monday night, according to law enforcement sources contacted by TMZ. The 49-year-old Troyer was subsequently hospitalized, and a statement on his Instagram account said he was “getting the best care possible and is resting comfortably.”

The social media post also asked fans to “keep Verne in your thoughts and prayers” and his team stated its appreciation for “the support from family, friends, and fans around the world.”

Troyer was reportedly being held 72 hours for evaluation, according to the entertainment outlet. The actor almost lost his life due to alcohol poisoning in 2002, the New York Daily News reports.

Last year, the actor revealed his battle with alcoholism and his plans to enter rehab treatment.

“As you know, I’ve battled alcohol addiction in the past and while it’s not always been an easy fight, I’m willing to continue my fight day by day,” Troyer said.
