A mural that depicted President Donald Trump holding a gun surrounded by children laying in blood has been painted over after several days of controversy.
The mural was reportedly painted on private property in downtown Florence, Ala., without the permission of the owner. The owner told the city they could paint over it, Florence Mayor Steve Holt told WAAY-TV Tuesday. The mural had reportedly been up since either Sunday night or Monday morning.
The mural showed a caricature of Trump pointing a handgun at a group of children covered in blood with the hashtag #NeverAgain. The president is seen throwing paper towels at the bleeding children in the mural.

“It’s not something that we want to have to see every day,” Sarah Shirey, who co-owns Turbo Coffee across the street from the graffiti, told WHNT. “My husband and I were looking at it, trying to figure it out, and then we realized all of the red coming out of the bodies was blood; and then I was assuming it was a school shooting.”
“They are obviously trying to send a message about what they believe, and I guess people have that freedom here, but that is a private piece of property and so they can’t really do it there. Which we really don’t appreciate it there,” Shirey continued.
Whoever painted the mural has not been caught.
