The Buffalo Bills are actively trying to trade up in this year’s NFL Draft, and it looks like they may have found a potential partner in the New York Giants, according to ESPN’s Todd McShay.

Buffalo currently has the 12th and 22nd picks in the first round. They also have two second-round picks as well as two third round picks that could be used in a trade.

Conversely, the Giants are selected second overall. They only have six picks in the entire draft, so they could look to replenish some of those picks by dealing their first round selection.

New York has a multitude of options where they stand. They could stay where they are and select a quarterback if they want to draft the heir to the Eli Manning thrown, or could add the best running back available in Saquon Barkley, or a defensive stud in Bradley Chubb.

Giants’ General Manager Dave Gentleman has repeatedly stood behind Manning, suggesting that they will not look to draft a quarterback in the first round.

Conversely, the Bills have had a lot of roster turnover even after finishing 9-7 and making the playoffs. They traded starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor to the Cleveland Browns for a third round pick. Buffalo also sent their left tackle to Cincinnati, which is how they acquired the 12th overall pick in the draft. They are clearly looking to acquire a franchise quarterback and they have the ammunition to pull off the major trade.

The Bills did agree to a two-year contract with AJ McCarron; however, they will not let that stop them from trying to draft a quarterback for the future.

Buffalo is targeting this pick because the New York Jets traded up from the sixth overall pick to third because they are also trying to obtain a franchise caliber quarterback.
