The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to a revised contract with quarterback Nick Foles.
Foles originally signed a two-year contract worth $11 million before last season.
The new deal includes a $2 million signing bonus. There are also a number of potential bonuses in the contract in the event he reaches specific benchmarks.
It also includes a mutual option for the 2019 season. So, instead of hitting free agency after this season, he could opt-in for the additional year.

The extra year is beneficial to both Foles and the Eagles. Having the option for two seasons could incentivize a team to trade for him.
There’s also no definitive proof that Philadelphia’s starting quarterback Carson Wentz will be ready for week one of the NFL season. Having a legitimate backup quarterback helps solidify the uncertainty surrounding the position.
Nick Foles stepped in when Wentz tore both his ACL and LCL in week 14. He went 2-0 in regular season games and 3-0 in the playoffs.
Foles then led a juggernaut offensive all the way to Philadelphia’s first Super Bowl victory in franchise history. In the Super Bowl he went 28-43 for 373 yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 interception and had a receiving touchdown. Foles became the first player in NFL history to throw a touchdown and catch a touchdown in a Super Bowl.
Earlier this week, Foles said that he wanted to be a starter again in the NFL but that isn’t likely to happen in Philadelphia.
