The Associated Press sent and then deleted a tweet sharing Roman Polanski’s comments on the #MeToo movement without mentioning that he raped a 13-year-old girl.
While the original tweet about Polanski has been deleted, the AP later sent a tweet explaining it was deleted it because they failed to mention Polanski’s own sex crimes.
Polanksi fled the United States in the late 1970s while he was awaiting sentencing on a statutory rape case.
“We have deleted a tweet about filmmaker Roman Polanski’s comments on the #MeToo movement because it didn’t mention that Polanski pleaded guilty to unlawful sex with a minor in 1977,” AP explained.

The AP later tweeted a follow-up mentioning Polanski’s crimes.
