Monica Lewinsky was supposed to attend an event for Town & Country magazine Wednesday but was unceremoniously invited after Bill Clinton decided to take part.
The former White House intern, whose affair with then President Clinton in the late 90’s ultimately led to his impeachment, voiced her displeasure on Twitter.
Lewinsky tweeted:
dear world:
please don’t invite me to an event (esp one about social change) and –then after i’ve accepted– uninvite me because bill clinton then decided to attend/was invited.
it’s 2018.
emily post would def not approve.

Lewinsky added that the magazine attempted to make things right by offering her an article in an upcoming copy. She declined.
p.s. …and definitely, please don’t try to ameliorate the situation by insulting me with an offer of an article in your mag.

Lewinsky’s tweet has since gone viral, with many supportive commenters joining the pile-on for Clinton.
The Huffington Post confirmed that the event was the Town & Country’s annual philanthropic summit and that Bill Clinton had in fact spoken.
