Trump Mentions Haspel Is First Female CIA Director — Crowd Erupts

The crowd at the CIA headquarters went wild on Monday when President Donald Trump announced that Gina Haspel is the first woman to ever lead the CIA.

Haspel was officially sworn-in as CIA director at Monday’s ceremony and she will replace current Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as the first female director in the 70-year history of the agency. (RELATED: Gina Haspel Has The Most Insane CIA Resume Of All Time)

“She has earned the universal respect, admiration, and trust of her colleagues here at the CIA — throughout the government and all over the world, Gina is truly respected,” Trump said. “Today we also mark another milestone as Gina becomes the first woman ever to lead the CIA.”

“That’s big,” he added.
