Showtime’s political TV series “The Circus” made a trip to The Daily Caller office in Washington, D.C., last week to get a better sense of what we do and how we cover the news.

The episode, which aired Sunday night, features interviews with TheDC’s leadership.

The segment highlighted how Americans turn to TheDC for news that is alternative to establishment media outlets, especially as an alternative to cable news networks.

Indeed, many Americans have turned away from establishment cable news networks, instead opting to get news from alternative online outlets like TheDC.

Readers can also find news on TheDC that bypasses the narratives presented by the mainstream. For instance, President Trump’s comment about MS-13 members being “animals,” which was taken out of context by many outlets, was reported on accurately by other web outlets like TheDC.

TheDC’s reporters can be seen covering the White House press briefing with Sarah Sanders.

“Part of what we do here is sort of, point out when the wider media is getting something wrong. That’s about half our mission, and the other half of our mission is the stuff that wider media doesn’t cover, and so, we try to cover as much of that as possible,” Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Ingersoll said.

Daily Caller Editorial Director Vince Coglianese also pushed back on the idea that TheDC supports Trump no matter what.

“Critics who accuse us of carrying water [for Trump] don’t read The Daily Caller,” Coglianese said.

“If you read The Daily Caller, you’d have a very good sense of where we are, and it’s not to be in anybody’s political corner.”
