New England Patriots’ tight end Rob Gronkowski shut down “fake news” about his football career during a Saturday interview.
A rumor that Gronkowski was going to be traded to another team gained massive legs on Friday when Barstool Sports President Dave Portnoy tweeted, “I’m hearing Gronk may not be a Patriot by the end of the day? If I’m right I want credit. If I’m wrong I don’t want any blame.”

The Patriots responded to the multiple reports predicting a major team shakeup, stating that, “none of it is true.” Gronkowski similarly said in an interview with CBS Boston on Saturday that claims of an imminent trade were “fake news.”

“What did you think about all those crazy rumors yesterday?” CBS’ Lisa Gresci asked Gronkowski.
“It just shows how much fake news is out there,” Gronkowski replied. “#FakeNews.”
“That’s all I know. It’s true. It exists. I see it all the time about me,” he added.
