First daughter and presidential advisor Ivanka Trump split from her father over his rhetoric criticizing the media and family separation at the U.S.-Mexico border.

“I am very vehemently against family separation and the separation of parents and children … I think immigration is incredibly complex as a topic. Illegal immigration is incredibly complicated,” Ivanka said, adding, “These are not easy issues, these are incredibly difficult issues and like the rest of the country, I experience them in a very emotional way.”
The first daughter has been a prominent voice within the White House for vocational training and workforce development. Ivanka Trump also advocated for a paid family leave act but lamented the lack of initiative in the current make up of Congress.
