President Donald Trump endorsed Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey in the Republican primary just hours before polls open in the state.

Trump touted Ducey’s strength on issues such as “Crime, the Border” and the “Second Amendment,” also adding that Ducey “Loves our Military & our Vets,” in his endorsement on Twitter. The endorsement comes one day after Ducey was tasked with appointing a Republican to replace Sen. John McCain, who died of brain cancer Saturday.

Ducey, who is running for his second term as governor, formerly served as Arizona’s state treasurer and will be taking on former Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett in the state’s primary.

The last-minute endorsement has become a signature for Trump, as he has now endorsed numerous candidates across the U.S. on Twitter just hours before the day of the election. (RELATED: Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Tells Different Story On Border Security: Imagine ‘No Trump’s Wall In Southern Arizona’)

The winner of Tuesday’s primary will take on the winner of the Democratic primary in the Nov. 6 general election.
