Rapper Kanye West claimed Tuesday night that he asked Donald Trump to be his running mate in the 2024 presidential election.

West began his Twitter post by saying he was at Mar-a-Lago for the first time, and was late to his meeting with Trump due to traffic. He also said he was wearing jeans, and that he posed the possibility of a 2024 joint ticket to Trump.

At the time of publication, nearly 59% of respondents to West’s Twitter poll thought Trump responded positively to his proposition.

West campaigned as an Independent in 2020, and got around 60,000 votes within states he was registered, according to The Hill.

West and Trump have met on numerous occasions in the past, including at the White House in 2018 and in New York City in 2016.

The rapper, who goes by “Ye,” was banned from Twitter Oct. 9 for reportedly violating Twitter’s policies. He was reinstated less than 24 hours after Elon Musk took over the platform, according to CBC News. Prior to his suspension, West had tweeted that he was “going death [sic] con 3” on Jewish people, and that he was not anti-Semitic because black people “are actually Jew also.”

The rapper tweeted “Shalom : )” after being reinstated.

Trump officially announced his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election at Mar-a-Lago on Nov. 15, saying “we are going to make our country great again.” (RELATED: Trump Announces 2024 Presidential Run)
