John Boehner Nearly Breaks Down In Tears As He Grovels For Pelosi

Former Speaker of the House John Boehner nearly broke down Wednesday while praising outgoing Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

During Pelosi’s portrait unveiling, Boehner heralded Pelosi’s leadership, before seemingly breaking down.

“You’ve been unfailingly gracious to me, my family, and, frankly, my team here in Washington. And Madam Speaker, I have to say, my girls told me, ‘tell the Speaker how much we admire her,'” Boehner said, before tearing up. “If you couldn’t tell, my girls are Democrats,” Boehner added.

“You know the younger generation today has a saying, game recognizes game,” Boehner added. “And the fact of the matter is, no other speaker of the House in modern era – Republican or Democrat – has wielded the gavel with such authority or such consistent results.”

Pelosi’s portrait depicts the outgoing Speaker standing before the Speaker’s chair holding a gavel.

“This program was wonderful to me,” Pelosi said during the unveiling, according to CNN. “It was like seeing the story of my political life revealed in front of me, not in terms of believing all the accolades, but in identifying with the persons who were presenting.
