Over a dozen protesters were arrested Wednesday night in the Florida Capitol Office after staging a sit-in to protest Republican Gov. Ron Desantis.

While the protesters were allowed to be inside the building when it was open during the day, they were required to leave once it closed, according to the spokeswoman for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Gretl Plessinger. Authorities eventually arrested and booked the fourteen protesters with misdemeanor trespass, according to The Associated Press.

The protesters reportedly refused to leave until they had a meeting with the governor, but were ultimately removed by Florida Capitol Police and Florida Highway Patrol.

The protest was organized by the social justice group Dream Defenders, who said they refused to leave until they had a meeting with the governor. (RELATED: Desantis Signs Legislation Cracking Down On ‘Woke Ideology’ In The Financial Sector)
