Liberals desperately tried to make the bribery indictment against Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez about Supreme Court Associate Justice Clarence Thomas.

Menendez is charged with three counts relating to allegations that he accepted bribes in order to wield power both home and abroad, notably in Egypt. Liberals immediately equated his bribery charges to Thomas, who has been under scrutiny by the left for going on expense-paid vacations with billionaire Harlan Crow without mentioning them on his financial disclosures.

Democratic Pennsylvania Rep. Summer Lee argued Thomas and Associate Justice Samuel Alito can only be “held accountable” if Democrats stand in solidarity that Menendez should be held to account.

“Menendez must resign. Corruption is corruption. Bribery is bribery. We can’t hold Thomas & Alito accountable for selling out our freedoms for luxury vacations if we can’t hold a Senator accountable for selling out his chairmanship to a dictator gifting gold for military aid,” Lee said.

“The View” co-host Ana Navarro invoked Thomas, along with Hunter Biden and Jared Kushner, to criticize Menendez’s wife for “cashing in” on her husband’s name. (RELATED: Bob Menendez’s Daughter Took The Weekend Off From Hosting Her MSNBC Show)

“I do think that there is a bigger problem here than Bob Menendez,” Navarro said. “The problem here is Bob Menendez’s wife cashing in on his name or Joe Biden’s son cashing in on his name or Jared Kushner cashing in on that or Clarence Thomas. Clarence Thomas was having his mama’s house paid for as well by a billionaire. So there’s gotta be some consistency and at some point, Congress needs to get ahold of this swampiness going on and they have got to deal with the idea that they can’t just have their stupid family members making money off their own name.”

Users have been making these comparisons in the past few days since Menendez’s indictment Friday. Lindy Li, a political strategist and delegate to President Joe Biden, called on both Menendez and Thomas to resign in a Friday tweet.

Democrats, including New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy and New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez-Cortez, have called on Menendez to resign. Menendez denied any wrongdoing and claimed the $480,000 in cash discovered in his home were his savings fund at a Monday press conference.

A financial disclosure found that liberal Supreme Court Associate Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson “inadvertently omitted” income her spouse “periodically receives from consulting on medical malpractice cases” on prior reports. Conservative legal experts called out the “double standard” among liberals for criticizing Thomas and remaining silent on Jackson’s financial disclosure.
