Florida authorities arrested a man on a child neglect charge Saturday after a 3-year-old girl picked up a gun and shot one of her fingers while the man was watching a football game, according to a local report.

Surveillance footage shared by WPLG Local 10 appears to show 23-year-old Orlando Young getting up from a couch and celebrating a touchdown when the toddler, named Serenity, found a loaded gun on the couch and fired it. A load bang is audible and a flash can be seen in the footage.

Serenity’s grandmother, Robin Fuller, told WPLG that Serenity’s other grandmother was supposed to be taking care of the young girl. But the other grandmother did not seem to be present at the time of the shooting, per the video.

“It looks as if she is getting ready to pick up the gun, the gun went off and I guess the bullet went through her finger,” Fuller said.

Serenity’s recovery has been promising so far, WPLG reported, as she returned home to her mother after a brief hospital stay. Fuller said her granddaughter has been cheerful amid her recovery process. She added she will not allow her granddaughter to be sent to that home again. Young reportedly got into a fight with an inmate after he was arrested on the child neglect charge. He will appear in court again and face more charges, according to WPLG.
