The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed Tuesday that a mob of Palestinian civilians from Gaza not affiliated with any terror organization joined Hamas in entering Israel and killing Israeli civilians, The Washington Free Beacon reports.

The mob attack was done following Hamas’s Oct. 7 breach of the Israeli southern border, the Free Beacon reported Tuesday. “They did what you say they did,” IDF spokesman Jonathan Conricus told the outlet, referring to ordinary Gazans joining Hamas by going into Israel to kill and capture Israelis. While the Hamas terrorists were reportedly carrying military-grade weapons and dressed in uniform, the Gazans who crossed into Israel were unarmed for the most part and wore regular clothes, according to the outlet. “The second wave of Arabs who came into the country were just as cruel as the terrorists of the first wave,” Gadi Yarkoni, the head of a southern regional district of Israel bordering Gaza, told the Free Beacon. “[T]he people of Gaza, who we once thought were good, are responsible. It’s not just Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Ordinary people from Gaza took [our citizens].”

The mob included young men armed with knives and at least one elderly man on crutches, the outlet reported, citing two unnamed officials from the Gaza border region in Israel. Hamas’ own spokespersons, when they were not denying killing Israeli civilians outright, also reportedly told the press ordinary Gazans were the ones who killed innocent Israelis.

“They had no weapons. One of them had a knife,” one Israeli commando told the Israeli news outlet Ynet. “They are not good fighters, from what we have seen. But it was their numbers and their evil. That’s all. You unleash a lot of people and say, ‘Do what you want, and have fun. Enjoy the murder. And also loot.”
