Phil Galdston is a songwriter/producer whose work has appeared on more than 70 million records worldwide in recordings by a remarkable range of artists, including Yolanda Adams, America, Ashford &amp; Simpson, Beckley-Lamm-Wilson, Beyoncé, Brandy, Cher, Chicago, Sheryl Crow, Kurt Elling, Barry Manilow, Anne Murray, Aaron Neville, Eddie Rabbit, John Sebastian, Esperanza Spalding, Starship, The Temptations, Jaci Velasequez, Wakey!Wakey!, Jody Watley, and Vanessa Williams.<br /> <br /> Save the Best For Last, recorded by Vanessa Williams and co-written with Jon Lind and Wendy Waldman, is undoubtedly Phil's best-known song. It simultaneously topped Billboard's pop, r&amp;b, and a/c charts for three weeks and was nominated for a GRAMMY® as Song of the Year. Vanessa's recording was nominated as Record of the Year and she received a nomination for Best Pop Vocal Female. Save ... was honored as ASCAP's Song of the Year, certifying it as the most-performed song of 1992-93, and received an ASCAP R&amp;B Award, as well. At nearly 4 million airplays to date, it is already one of the classic songs of this, or any, era.<br /> <br /> Phil has produced tracks and albums by such artists as Yolanda Adams, America, Chicago, Jody Watley, Starship, Vanessa Williams, John Sebastian, and The Temptations. He also produced GRAMMY®-nominated comedy albums for both Robert Klein and Robin Williams. In addition, Phil produced and co-wrote the critically-acclaimed album Like A Brother by (Gerry) Beckley (of America), (Robert) Lamm (of Chicago), and the late (Carl) Wilson (of The Beach Boys).<br /> <br /> Phil has scored four motion pictures and his songs and productions have appeared in the soundtracks of numerous films, including: The First Wives Club, Cocktail, definitely maybe, The Firm, Music Of The Heart, Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, The Best Man, Seven Girlfriends, C-A-M-P, Mind the Gap, and The Upside of Anger.<br /> <br /> Phil and family entertainment pioneer Tom Chapin co-wrote and co-produced Chapin’s latest CD, The Incredible Flexible You, which accompanies the groundbreaking curriculum, parents’ guide, and storybook series from Social Thinking. The album has received awards from Parents’ Choice, Academics’ Choice, Family Choice, Mom’s Choice, and Creative Child Magazine.<br /> <br /> The recipient of the Grand Prize of the American Song Festival, two Nashville Songwriters' Association citations, the Time For Peace Award, a Cable ACE nomination, a DOVE Award nomination, four ASCAP awards, and five GRAMMY® nominations. He was Songwriter in Residence at the Berklee College of Music and is a Master Teacher of Songwriting at NYU’s Steinhardt School (the first member of the Songwriting Faculty), and the first Songwriter-in-Residence in University history.<br /> <br /> Phil is the founder, curator, and moderator of the SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME MASTER SESSIONS AT NYU, whose guests have included Hal David, Jimmy Webb, Glenn Frey, Nile Rodgers, Valerie Simpson, Felix Cavaliere, and John Sebastian. He is an active member of both ASCAP and The Recording Academy, and a founder of the Council of Music Creators. <br /> <br /> David is a Grammy and Emmy nominated composer, arranger, songwriter, orchestrator, producer and instrumentalist who has worked in all areas of music, including film, records, advertising and television. <br /> <br /> David's songs have been recorded by Whitney Houston , Barbra Streisand, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Usher, Dolly Parton, Dusty Springfield, Eddie Murphy, the Four Tops, Cher, Lynn Anderson, Julio Iglesias Jr. and many others, and appear on the Greatest Hits collections of Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand, and Dolly Parton. David has also worked as an arranger. producer and guitarist with many icons of the music business, including Rod Stewart, Bette Midler, Whitney Houston, Elton John, Peter Criss, Jimmy Cliff. Johnny Cash, Harry Nilsson, The Temptations, Aretha Franklin, Judy Collins, Brenda Russel, Don Covay, Dr. John and many others.<br /> <br /> David has also written music for thousands of Television and Radio commercials for virtually every major advertiser and has won 2 Clios for his work and his scores have appeared in numerous documentaries, television shows, and independent films.<br /> <br /> He serves as Composer/Music Director for Goodpenny, a creative boutique made up of equal parts editorial, visual effects and musical talent. and serves on the Advisory board of Songs of Love, a charity that composes personalized songs for chronically and terminally ill children. David is also a founding member of the CMCNY, an advocacy group for composers and songwriters.<br /> <br /> David lives in New York and has studios in New York City and Bridgehampton, Long Island.
