This past Sunday, the FOX animated comedy “Family Guy” took a swipe at former Alaska governor Sarah Palin and her mentally handicapped son. A scene involved a character named Ellen, who was suffering from Down syndrome, making a remark about her mother being the former governor of Alaska. The actress who voiced the character on the show, also suffers from Down syndrome. (more)

The rumored Windows 7-themed Family Guy episode (that, fortunately, never aired ) represented one of the most egregious examples of blatant product placement potentially  ruining a TV show in recent memory. Eagle-eyed Family Guy fans will notice that these promos are actually just re-dubbed versions of previous Family Guy episodes, suggesting that they were never meant to form a coherent new episode after all. But the fact remains that Microsoft pulled its planned live-action Family Guy special, perhaps after seeing the quality of these (intentionally?) bad clips. (more)
