Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston got eye surgery to help his NFL career.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Winston got Lasik surgery to correct his vision. Why did he do it? Well, turns out he wanted to do anything he could to improve his career. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

Winston’s publicist Denise White told NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport the following:

He didn’t want to count out any options that he had that could possibly help him with the game he loves so much. He doesn’t want to miss out on an opportunity that presents itself. This is the game he loves and he wants to be the best at it and if there are any options that can improve his game he is willing to do it.

This is honestly one of the funniest things I’ve read in a long time. It doesn’t even necessarily sound like he needed surgery.

The statement his publicist gave makes it sound like he was just doing this to be safe. Are we supposed to believe Winston has played his whole NFL career with bad vision?

I guess that would explain throwing 30 interceptions last season, but he also tossed 30 touchdowns. His vision couldn’t be that bad.

Still, getting Lasik to improve your NFL career after a 30 interception season is laugh-out-loud funny. It’s such a classic Jameis Winston story that you have to laugh.

Now, we wait to see what Winston does with his future. Will the Bucks bring him back? Will he go to a new team?

Only time will tell, but at least his vision is as good as it’s ever been!
