Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham recently had an all-time quote when discussing how much coaches get paid in college sports.

According to Ross Dellenger, Graham said during a Wednesday hearing, “Very few coaches get paid a lot of money that lose over time.” (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

Yes, that is an actual quote from a sitting United States Senator about coaches who don’t win and how much money they make.

As pointed out by @RedditCFB, you know a great example of a school that has shelled out money for coaches to not win games?

South Carolina. Know where Graham went to school? You guessed it! South Carolina.

This is honestly one of the most laughable quotes I’ve ever heard in my life when it comes to college football.

Does Lindsey Graham, who comes from a state with an SEC team and an ACC powerhouse in Clemson, not even watch football?

The sport is loaded with coaches who don’t win and still get rich! Hell, Will Muschamp is paid $4.4 million to coach the Gamecocks and has a career record of 26-25 in Columbia!

Charlie Weis was paid nearly $19 million in buyout money from Notre Dame after being fired with a record of 35-27 with the Fighting Irish.

Bret Bielema was paid massive amounts of cash to coach Arkansas, and he didn’t do anything with the Razorbacks before being canned!

Seriously, what the hell is Lindsey Graham talking about? I’d argue the majority of coaches in America aren’t winners over time, and they’re all paid.

If you’re a head coach in college football, then you’re getting paid piles of money. If you’re a coordinator, then you’re still likely making north of $500,000.

To claim you can’t lose and get rich is so out of touch with reality that you just have to laugh. Kevin Sumlin was paid $10 million to leave Texas A&M! I could go on all day with examples!

This quote from Graham is going straight into the quote hall of fame. What a wild take!
