Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse is sending a letter to Big 10 presidents urging football to be played.
Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger obtained a copy of the letter and tweeted it out. Sasse makes the argument that football is never completely safe and echoed Trevor Lawrence’s point about how sending athletes home doesn’t make anything safer at all during the coronavirus pandemic. Good for Sasse. Now, all other Republicans and Democrats need to do the same. I can’t overstate how bad things will get without football.
We need leadership right now, and we need somebody to put some pressure on the cowardly idea of canceling football.

We can’t let it happen, and we’re long past the point of government officials needing to get involved. President Trump should be leading the fight to save football, and I’m dead serious about that.
We need leadership from the highest levels right now. Save our football, and do it right now.

This country is not built to survive football being canceled, and you best believe it’ll get ugly. Props to Sasse for speaking up. Hopefully, more people follow.
