Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh reportedly has the NFL buzzing.

According to Pete Thamel, “buzz is filtering through NFL front offices that Harbaugh” might dip out of Michigan and return to the pros. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

The entire Thamel piece is pretty outstanding, and I’d encourage you all to read it. It’s a great dive into what might happen if Harbaugh decides it’s the right time to go back to the NFL.

Seeing as how the media has been hammering him after losing to Michigan State this past Saturday, it’s not hard to see why “buzz is filtering” through the league about the former 49ers coach.

Do I think Harbaugh is headed back to the NFL? Well, if there was ever a time to get out of Michigan, it’d be right now.

Once again, it looks like the Wolverines will disappoint expectations. I mean, they literally just lost to a very bad MSU team.

If that’s a sign of things to come against Indiana, Wisconsin and Ohio State, then Harbaugh is in big trouble.

Now, will Michigan fire Jim Harbaugh? There’s no shot that happens. Despite the fact that he disappoints expectations, the Wolverines are substantially better off right now than they were before his arrival.

If Harbaugh leaves, it’ll be a decision he makes on his own. The school won’t force it.

We’ll see what happens, but Harbaugh’s future will be under a microscope for the next several months.
