Concord, North Carolina, police say a Discount Tire employee was found dead after they resolved a hostage situation at the store Saturday.
Jeremy Monty Spann, 39, has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the Charlotte Observer. Spann is alleged to have shot and killed an unidentified worker in the store following a verbal dispute Saturday morning that resulted in an hours-long hostage negotiation, per the Observer. Spann is being held without bail after surrendering peacefully to hostage negotiators and a SWAT team, as reported by the Observer. The motive behind the incident is currently still unknown. (Two Reportedly Dead After Explosion At VA Medical Center)

Officers discovered the deceased body after searching the premises following Spann’s surrender, the police say. Local reporter Lucas Bogg for WCNC said gunshots were heard from inside the building after the SWAT team had already arrived. The incident comes the same week that six people, including two police officers, were shot at a nightclub in nearby Gastonia, NC.
