Illinois quarterback Brandon Peters will be back with the team next season.
The team announced Tuesday that the senior passer will be back in 2021 after limited playing time during the 2020 season. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)
Peters is able to return because the 2020 season didn’t count towards anyone’s eligibility.

This is great news for Illinois and fans of the team. While the Fighting Illini haven’t been good in a long time, Peters is a very solid quarterback.
He’s the best option Illinois is going to have, and Bret Bielema needs all the help he can get.

I mean, let’s just be honest with each other right now. Bielema, a man who I look forward to cheering against until he inevitable runs Illinois into the ground, is going to be put through the ringer.
At Wisconsin, he had an embarrassment of riches. He has none of that at Illinois. At least with Peters playing quarterback, he’ll have a steady and dependable passer.
Baby steps, Illinois! Baby steps!
