Thanks to Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy and some help from the Daily Caller, Washington, D.C’s, oldest family-owned restaurant is going to survive the pandemic.

The Caller’s Caity McDuffee asked the 5th generation owner of Martin’s Tavern, Lauren Martin, to give her best pitch to Portnoy for the Barstool Sports Fund, which has raised over $25 million for small businesses across the country. Martin explained that her father is usually the one helping others out.

“So to feel like he’s on the other end of having to ask for a receiving line, or his business is going to go under, is hard, but at this point it is absolutely necessary,” she said.

Martin received the call Friday from Portnoy, who said that “a million people” sent the video over to him.

“We want to help, whatever you guys need to make sure each month that, you know, you guys are still there. Because places like you guys you can’t replace,” Portnoy told Martin.

You can donate to Martin Tavern’s GoFundMe here.
