A rapper in Chicago received as many as 64 bullet wounds in a shooting Saturday night after he had “just been released” from Cook County Jail, numerous sources reported.

A police report identified the man as Londre Sylvester, known as a local rapper, and stated that he had been pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 9:25 p.m. Saturday, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The police report noted that Sylvester suffered up to 64 bullet wounds to his head and body, the outlet reported. A full autopsy report will not be available for a few weeks. (RELATED: 61 People Arrested After Descending Onto Downtown Chicago, Wreaking Havoc)

A thirty-year-old woman who was walking in the area was grazed in the mouth by a bullet. She is currently recovering at Mount Sinai Hospital.

A sixty-year-old woman was also shot in the knee but is expected to make a full recovery.

“It appears Sylvester was the intended target while (the women) were inadvertently struck,” the police report said, according to the Chicago Tribune.

In late June, Sylvester was given a petition for violation of bail bond for violating the conditions of his release in a felony gun case from 2020, according to NBC Chicago. Sylvester posted the necessary bail Friday.

Sylvester had just been released and was walking with the 60-year-old woman when “unknown (suspects) exited two separate vehicles and all began to shoot in Sylvester’s direction, striking him numerous times,” according to the police report. The suspects then fled off in different directions.

Chicago police are combing through surveillance footage to try and find the suspects, according to the Chicago Tribune.
