Joe Burrow recently shared some very powerful comments about social media.
While speaking to the media Monday ahead of the Super Bowl, the quarterback of the Cincinnati Bengals told young athletes to focus on actually working out instead of just posting about it on social media. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)
“Don’t have a workout and go and post it on Instagram the next day and then go sit on your butt the next four days. And, everyone thinks you’re working hard, but you’re really not. Work in silence,” Burrow responded in part when asked about his advice for young athletes.

Props to Burrow for giving young athletes this advice. As you all know, I’m not a huge fan of social media at all.
I love it for following the news, but when it comes to people posting on Instagram, most of it is garbage. It’s fantasyland, and it’s about time we just came out and said it.
I know some women who are completely different people on Instagram. It’s almost like they’re living two different lives.
Social media isn’t real, and you shouldn’t live your life thinking the opinions of losers on Twitter and Facebook matter. They don’t.

They will break their backs for some likes on social media to convince people they’re rolling it in, and in real life, it’s not that way at all!
The same goes for athletes who just post nonstop about working out. Just get the job done. Don’t tip your cards to your opponents.
Just take care of business and the rest will take care of itself. I can promise you that much.

We need more and more people like Burrow speaking out. The more people who realize how fake social media is, the better.
