Country music legend Jason Aldean was dropped by his PR firm of almost 20 years after they disliked his and his wife’s stance on child gender reassignment Sep. 1.

Brittany Aldean made a few headlines in early August after she wrote, “I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life,” in the caption to a beauty tutorial. A few relatively unknown spouses of other musicians saw her post as an opportunity to leech off Mrs. Aldean’s soaring success and popularity by posting hateful comments and twisting Aldean’s words to sound far more aggressive than they were, according to E! News.

In a statement to Billboard, Aldean’s PR firm said “Music has always been and remains The GreenRoom’s core focus, so we had to make the difficult decision after 17 years to step away from representing Jason.” The company noted that “we aren’t the best people for the gig anymore, but will always be big fans of his music — he is one of the greatest live entertainers in country music.” (RELATED: Jason Aldean’s Wife Wishes Happy Presidents’ Day, But ‘Not You’ To Biden)

After his wife faced backlash for her comments, Jason defended her stance that allowing children to irreversibly alter and damage their bodies with gender reassignment practices is “one of the worst evils,” PageSix noted.
